Over 3,000 Lopburi Residents Unite in Traditional Thai Attire to Promote the 38th King Narai the Great Reign Festival 2026

On January 14, 2026, at 8:00 a.m., Lopburi Province organized a citywide campaign titled “Lopburi Dressed in Thai Attire”, marking the official launch of activities leading up to the 38th King Narai the Great Reign Festival 2026.

Mr.Wiraphong Rhitrot, Governor of Lopburi, together with deputy governors, heads of government agencies, military and police officers, representatives from the public and private sectors, students, and local residents—totalling more than 3,000 participants—joined the parade dressed in traditional Thai costumes inspired by the reign of King Narai the Great, as well as contemporary Thai-style attire. The participants marched in organized processions from Ratchanusorn Park through historic sites and community areas in Lopburi’s city center, covering a distance of more than three kilometers. The event also featured a traditional costume parade competition with nine entries: six in the “Elegance” category and three in the “Creative Concept” category. The campaign aimed to promote cultural preservation, strengthen local pride, and raise awareness of Lopburi’s most prestigious annual festival.

The public is invited to dress in traditional Thai attire throughout the entire month to create a festive Thai atmosphere and demonstrate warm hospitality in welcoming visitors during the fair, which will take place from February 13–22, 2026, at King Narai’s Palace and nearby historical landmarks. The event is held in honor of King Narai the Great, who laid the foundation for Lopburi’s prosperity, and in remembrance of the gracious contributions of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, The Queen Mother, to the people of Lopburi and the Thai nation. Beyond cultural conservation and the promotion of Thai identity, the campaign also reflects the strong collaboration among government agencies, private organizations, and local communities in supporting tourism and welcoming both Thai and international visitors.

This year’s King Narai the Great Reign Festival is expected to be the grandest of 2026, featuring royal worship ceremonies, historical parades, cultural and theatrical performances, and cultural zones. Notably, historical sites within and around King Narai’s Palace will be beautifully illuminated, offering free admission throughout 10 days and 10 nights.
